AN EVENING WITH CUCINA RUSTICA #TASTEOFSPRING

In April we hosted our first ever masterclass as a way of trialing our spring menu, and collaborating with local bloggers that would help us to create the perfect wine and food pairing evening for you and your family and friends to enjoy. With the help of our friends Columbier Wines, we successfully hosted nine bloggers, in what turned out to be a wonderful evening! Let us talk you through…To start, guests were treated to a trio of our most popular dishes Gratinated king scallop with Parmesan, parsley garlic butter & shrimp, grilled portobello mushrooms with garlic butter, goats cheese & tomato sauce and king prawn, tomato, garlic, chilli & cream.

Ju and Michelin from Columbier Wines, talked our guests through one of our most popular Italian wines; Frascati. The perfect accompaniment to any seafood dish – this particular bottle, is Rome’s signature wine and delivers a fresh and light side to enjoy with a small appetiser.

Whilst our bloggers waited for their mains to arrive, we left antipasto boards on the table for them to enjoy. To accompany, our ever-popular Pinot noir, Domaine V La Grange was recommended to provide a richer and slightly heavier flavour, which works perfectly with the meats and olives.

Next up were the main samples - we wanted to ensure that we delivered an assortment of flavours which would give the bloggers enough opportunity to sample our most popular dishes. We provided a taster of our Costolette D’agnello and Tagliata Di Filetto, which was paired with the beautifully rich Barbara Ruleja, delivering an essence of blackberry and truffle to complement the red meat.To showcase Columbier Wines’ wonderful white wine selection, we offered the Fiano Salento which comes bursting with aromas of citrus and white peach. The food to escort this crisp white, was our special of seabass with saffron sauce, Pollo Milanese, and Risotto Con Funghi – which, with a hint of truffle, always proves popular with our guests.Of course, we couldn’t deliver a taster evening and not provide dessert, so to ensure we impressed we pulled out our top Italian dessert wine – Visanto del Chianti Classico. We were delighted to find that Good Girl Gone Brum described this as “one of the best dessert wines I’ve ever tried -intense and silky, without being sickly!” The trio of desserts included hot chocolate fondant, tiramisu and our delightfully light cheesecake with forest fruits.

Overall, the evening was a complete success and something we would love to continue to deliver to our guests moving forward –watch this space!
