We understand that when it comes to choosing the perfect venue for date night, a family meal, or a friends surprise dinner – there are many factors which will help you to decide where you want to spend your evening.

We’ve gathered our top 5 tips, which we hope will help you when it comes to making your weekend plans.

  1. Location is key

When making your decision it’s important to note the location of the venue. Is it easily accessible? Is there a train station nearby? If you’re going to be having a few drinks, you won’t want a huge taxi fare at the end of the evening, so ensure that you suss out all your options both near and far, and decide on your mode of transport before the event!

  1. Check out the menu beforehand

Choosing your meal is one of the biggest challenges of the evening. Yes, there are many wonderful items on the menu, but how do you make sure you choose the right one and avoid getting food envy throughout the night?

We would suggest having a look at the menu beforehand, that way, when you arrive you’ll have more of an idea of what you’d like to eat, but choose two options just in case one of the dishes isn’t available that evening!

  1. What have other people said?

Have you checked Trip Advisor? It’s a great way to really gage what other people think about the restaurant you’re planning to dine at, but remember to double check how current the reviews are – if the latest comments about the restaurant portray tasty food, good service and a great atmosphere, then you’re good to go!

  1. Make sure there’s availability

There’s nothing worse than turning up to a restaurant and finding out that you can’t be seated because there aren’t any tables free. If you know what your plans are, then you should always make a reservation, otherwise you may be left disappointed. What’s more, many restaurants now offer a book online service, where you can add in any special requests, so there are no excuses now!

  1. Recommendations are the deciding factor

Once you’ve checked online for reviews and you think you’ve found the perfect spot for something tasty, double check with a friend or family member. If the restaurant is local, it’s more than likely that you’ll know someone that’s been and they’ll be able to give you their honest feedback on the restaurant, and let you know if they think you’d enjoy it too!
