Celebrate Seafood Week with Fresh Fish Dishes at Cucina Rustica
Seafood Week aims to highlight the variety and quality of fish and shellfish on offer in the UK. Here at Cucina Rustica, we love cooking with fresh fish, sourced locally from Birmingham’s markets. This year, Seafood Week is on 5th- 12th October, and we welcome you to come and celebrate in our stylish Italian Restaurant.
Located in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter, overlooking the charming and historic St Pauls Cathedral, Cucina Rustica has some mouth-watering fresh seafood dishes available, inspired by Italy’s exquisite cuisine.
SEAFOOD IN TRADITIONAL ITALIAN COOKING
When asked to think of Italian food, many imagine fresh pasta cooked to perfection, or rustic pizza with that impeccable crust. However, throughout the whole of Italy, fresh fish and seafood is at the centre of many traditional dishes. This makes sense, given that many of Italy’s 20 regions have a stretch of coastline along the Mediterranean Sea, making it a perfect location for fresh catches. Regionally inspired dishes add exciting character to food as you travel across the country. Particularly in the South, fresh fish and seafood can be found in much of its cooking. Among some of its most popular seafood to cook with in Italy, is salmon, shrimp, swordfish and mussels – all of which can be found here at Cucina Rustica.
Our ever-changing Special Menu often focuses on fresh fish inspired by traditional Italian favourites. The Special Menu reflects upon what produce we can source at the local market each day, ensuring that we are only using the freshest fish we possibly can when creating our changing menu of taste sensations. Take a look at some of the seafood delights that have previously featured on our Special Menu:
Swordfish with Prosecco, mussels and lobster bisque.
Luxurious lobster linguine with prawns.
Roasted lemon sole with a white wine sauce and grilled asparagus.
Whilst many of our seafood dishes feature on our Special Menu, we have some staples on our Main Menu that we believe have the right to stay. Fishy Starters include our Fritto Misto (lightly fried calamari, king prawns, scallops, with a sweet chilli sauce) and Gamberoni (king prawns, tomato, garlic, chilli and a hint of cream – photographed above). Our mains also feature some great dishes from the sea, including Spaghetti Allo Scoglio (mixed seafood, tomato, garlic and parsley) and Risotto Con Capesante E Gamberoni (king prawns, scallops, courgettes, peas and saffron sauce). Our Main Menu ensures there are always some trusted staple dishes to relieve those seafood cravings!
